A Career Rooted in Care – Tati Kahihikolo-Mathur Career Journey

“I started as a CNA for six years in a facility,” shared Tati Kahihikolo-Mathur, reflecting on how her passion for helping others began. Her early years in senior care taught her the importance of compassion, patience, and connection — values that would later define her path at Family Resource Home Care.

After working as a Community Service Advisor, where she helped seniors find the right assisted living community, Tati transitioned to marketing in senior living — a role that first connected her with Pam Stone, one of Family Resource Home Care’s Regional Business Development Managers in the Seattle Metro area. “I used to do marketing with Pam at Regency Newcastle in the Seattle area,” she recalled. “So I already knew about Family Resource Home Care and loved the company.”

That connection and admiration for Family Resource Home Care would eventually come full circle.

Finding the Perfect Fit

Two years ago, Tati Kahihikolo-Mathur career journey started when she joined Family Resource Home Care as a Client Care Supervisor in the Spokane Branch when her husband’s military career required a relocation to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. “After relocating, I saw the job listing for Family Resource Home Care and thought — how funny, this is meant to be!” she said with a laugh. “My mother-in-law and I used to work together at Newcastle, so she got a kick out of it, too.” The role felt like a natural extension of her previous experience in healthcare and marketing. “I felt like the Client Care Supervisor position was perfect for me,” she explained. “I enjoyed working with clients, setting up their care plans, and being sociable.” As a Client Care Supervisor, Tati supported families and caregivers alike, helping coordinate care plans and ensure quality home care services.

When the opportunity arose to move into a Talent Acquisition Specialist role, Tati knew it aligned perfectly with her skills — and her heart.

“I was interested in helping caregivers find their pathway,” she said. “Home care can be a starting point for caregivers, and I love seeing them grow within the company.”

Guiding Caregivers Toward Growth

Now in her new role as a Talent Acquisition Specialist, Tati supports applicants and new hires across Seattle, Eugene, Roseburg, and Colville. She has a unique perspective, having worked directly with clients and caregivers as a Client Care Supervisor and knowing what it takes to succeed in the field.

“When I talk to new caregivers — especially those who’ve only cared for family members — I explain how home care and agencies work,” Tati said. “I like to give them real scenarios, describe the types of clients we have, and reassure them that we provide shadow shifts and in-house or online training so they can be successful.”

She often draws on her own story to inspire new caregivers: “I tell them how I started and how much growth there is at Family Resource Home Care. You can start as a caregiver and move into leadership roles like Caregiver Manager or Client Care Supervisor.”

Educating Families and Caregivers

Beyond recruitment, Tati sees her role as one of education and advocacy — for both clients and caregivers.

For families, she emphasizes the comfort and independence that home care provides:
“Home care allows clients to age in place — in the comfort of their own home — rather than move into a facility,” she said. “Our caregivers are fully vetted and trained, and we focus on quality over quantity.”

For caregivers, she underscores the trust and autonomy that come with one-on-one care:
“I explain that they’re the only caregiver in the home and the responsible party,” Tati said. “But they always have branch support. If something happens, we’re here for them, but we also encourage autonomy.”

A New Chapter with Purpose

Though she’s only been in the Talent Acquisition Specialist role for a short time, Tati says she “absolutely loves it.” The balance of working from home while helping others build meaningful careers is deeply rewarding.

“I miss my Spokane team — Michelle and everyone there were amazing — but I love that I can now help more caregivers start their journey,” she said. “Seeing people discover their purpose through caregiving is what keeps me motivated.”

Tati’s story — Tati Kahihikolo-Mathur career journey from Client Care Supervisor to Talent Acquisition Specialist — is a testament to the opportunities for growth at Family Resource Home Care and the meaningful impact of connecting compassionate people to purposeful work.
