Regina, or Gina as many know her, never imagined her career in caregiving would one day lead her into the world of talent acquisition. But looking back, every moment spent at a client’s bedside, every late-night hospice shift, and every warm conversation with a family member built the foundation for what she does today—connecting compassionate people with meaningful caregiving roles at Family Resource Home Care. Right after high school, Regina became a CNA and entered a field she would grow to love for over a decade. She spent most of her early career working in care facilities, and in her later years, gravitated toward hospice care, where she found a deep sense of purpose. “Hospice was my favorite. It was about more than just helping someone physically. It was walking with them through their final chapter with dignity and care.”

Adapting After Adversity

But everything changed after a serious accident. Doctors advised her that continuing hands-on care could put her at further risk. “I’m not someone who sits idle,” Regina said. She pivoted, supporting her managers behind the scenes in scheduling and billing. That shift opened a new door. She began working at a facility in Denver, managing scheduling and center supply, staying connected to the caregiving world, even if not directly in it. Eventually, her move further from the city sparked a moment of pause. “I wasn’t sure what was next,” she shared. But a staffing agency she had worked with before kept reaching out, convinced she’d be a perfect fit for a healthcare recruiter role. She took the leap—and it stuck. Regina became a full-desk recruiter, connecting healthcare workers with jobs across the U.S., even helping bring in new clients.

Finding Her Place at Family Resource Home Care

Still, something was missing. “I realized I wanted to narrow my focus—to work with caregivers specifically,” she said. When she discovered the Talent Acquisition Specialist position at Family Resource Home Care, it felt like a natural fit. “It feels really special to hire caregivers, to work closely with three branches, and to be part of a mission I believe in.” She’s been with Family Resource Home Care since March and loves that her work helps others find meaningful careers in the same field that shaped her life.

Hiring from the Heart

Regina’s years of caregiving inform every phone call she makes. “I know what it’s like to be on the other side. I understand what caregivers face and what clients truly need.” That perspective makes her attuned to authenticity in applicants. “I’ve gotten better at hearing someone’s voice and sensing their sincerity. I ask better questions now because I’ve lived it.”

When speaking to those new to home care—whether caregivers or clients—Regina’s advice is heartfelt. “To clients who have lived independent lives and are hesitant to ask for help, there’s no shame in needing support. You’ve earned the right to be cared for. Once you accept that help, life can feel fuller again.” And to aspiring caregivers? “This career isn’t for everyone. You have to look deep in your heart. If the desire to care for others is truly there, this can be a deeply rewarding path. If you love it, you’ll go far.”

A Legacy of Compassion

Regina’s story is also a legacy. Her daughter is now in nursing school, directly inspired by her mother’s lifelong commitment to caring for others. “I’ve always been proud of the work I’ve done,” she said. And now, from her seat in talent acquisition, Regina continues to shape the future of caregiving, one phone call—and one heart—at a time.
