Harmonie’s journey into the home care field started from a deeply personal place. Her family had been caring for her grandfather, who was diagnosed with dementia. Over time, as his condition progressed, Harmonie became one of his primary caregivers. “I decided to do it professionally because I was one of his caretakers. It felt like a natural progression into the profession,” Harmonie shares. Sadly, her grandfather passed away in September, but his care inspired Harmonie to pursue caregiving professionally. Joining the company during a transition period, Harmonie quickly found her passion for getting to know clients on a personal level, learning about their diverse pasts and cultures. “I really loved getting to know clients individually, understanding their different pasts and cultures. It’s nice to connect with people and learn how they’ve gotten to where they are now,” she says. She loved how home care allowed her to create genuine relationships with people, helping them on their individual journeys. As she continued working with a primary client and filling in for others, she caught the attention of management, and Integration Support Specialist, Kat, offered her the lead caregiver position.
A Snowstorm and a New Opportunity
One of the most memorable moments in Harmonie’s career journey with Family Resource Home Care in Denver came when she was willing to drive two hours to assist a client. However, she was stranded in a snowstorm and had to stay overnight at the client’s home. “I was willing to drive two hours to help a client, even if it meant getting stranded in a snowstorm and staying overnight at their home. It’s about going above and beyond to help,” Harmonie reflects.
Her dedication didn’t end there. Harmonie took on more responsibilities by helping with office documents and assisting with scheduling when one of the Caregiver Managers went on leave. This exposure to the daily operations sparked her interest in advancing within the company and led to more growth in her journey with Family Resource Home Care in Denver.
Transitioning to Client Care Manager
As her role evolved, Harmonie was offered the Client Care Manager position, a challenge she eagerly accepted. In her new role, she works primarily on scheduling, ensuring that the perfect caregiver-client matches are made. “Over time, knowing more about the clients and caregivers makes it easier to pick out the matches. Personalities and characteristics really matter, and I’ve learned how to match them well,” she explains.
Harmonie’s experience as a caregiver and lead caregiver gives her a unique insight into what makes these relationships successful. She says, “As a lead caregiver, I had the opportunity to visit many clients’ homes, which gave me a better understanding of their needs. Now, I can give caregivers tips to set them up for success.”

Now that Harmonie is in a position of leadership, she is focused on supporting and guiding the caregivers under her supervision. Having been in their shoes, she understands the challenges they face. As a lead caregiver, she had the opportunity to visit many clients’ homes, which gave her firsthand knowledge of their needs. This experience helps her provide caregivers with important context and set them up for success.
Wisdom for Clients and Caregivers
When offering advice to clients, Harmonie encourages them to relax and embrace the help they’re offered. “For clients, I tell them to step back and relax. Accepting help can be hard, but once they do, life gets easier, and they end up feeling more relaxed,” she explains. She understands that it can be difficult to accept care, but the results are often transformative. She reassures clients that finding the right caregiver may take time, but open communication ensures a good match will eventually be found.
For caregivers, Harmonie’s advice is straightforward: remember why you started. “It’s rewarding if you’re doing it for the right reason. I started because I wanted to help people, and it’s been amazing to see people change over time, both in their home and their health condition,” Harmonie advises.
Looking to the Future
Reflecting on her journey with Family Resource Home Care in Denver, Harmonie is proud of how far she has come and excited for what the future holds. “I really love doing this. It’s always been about wanting to help people, and it’s rewarding to see how clients change over time,” Harmonie says with passion.
