Starting as a caregiver, Dorene rose to become Family Resource Home Care’s Tacoma Branch Manager in April 2022. This success is largely due to our unique “all hands on deck” orientation. All office staff work together to interact and get to know each new employee, creating a welcoming and supportive environment.
Caregiver Growth Journey
Dorene began her journey as a caregiver in 2009, tirelessly helping clients remain in their homes. As a proud mother of four and a recent empty-nester, she’s a devoted grandmother of two and maintains a close relationship with all her children. Dorene attributes this bond to her experiences as a caregiver, saying, “If I didn’t take the journey, I wouldn’t be where I am or be who I am.”
Her progression from caregiver to Client Care Supervisor, and eventually to Branch Manager, has given her a comprehensive understanding of Family Resource Home Care’s finely-tuned home care service. She believes her background as a caregiver and Client Care Supervisor provides her with a unique perspective on clients’ needs. Addressing these evolving needs with kindness and efficiency is key to her approach.
Dorene’s caregiving experience instilled in her a deep sense of empathy and a heart for clients. Initially worried about losing direct interaction with clients, she found reassurance in her ability to still make client visits, conduct assessments, and support her team. Her leadership is characterized by a balance of administrative duties and client-centered care.

Recognizing the reality of employee burnout, Dorene strives to make orientation a memorable experience. The Tacoma office staff ensures that every lunch is interactive, taking time to learn about each new caregiver’s diverse background and skills. As a Branch Manager, Dorene aims to encourage and motivate her caregivers, empowering them to help clients stay safe and independent in their own homes.
