Celebrating Our 7th Annual Month of Gratitude 2026

At Family Resource Home Care, June is a time to slow down, reflect, and celebrate the people and experiences that make a difference in our lives. This year, we’re excited to kick off our 7th Annual Month of Gratitude, a tradition dedicated to fostering appreciation, connection, and positivity throughout our organization and communities.

For seven years, this month-long initiative has encouraged caregivers, clients, employees, families, and community partners to intentionally practice gratitude and recognize the impact it can have on overall well-being. Through reflection, meaningful conversations, and weekly challenges, the Month of Gratitude creates opportunities to celebrate life’s moments both big and small.

This year’s theme invites participants on a journey through your Past, Present, and Future of Gratitude. Together, we’ll reflect on where we’ve been, appreciate what we have today, and build habits that help carry gratitude forward long after June comes to an end.

Why Gratitude Matters

Gratitude is at the heart of everything we do.

Every day, we witness the difference that kindness, compassion, and connection make in the lives of those we serve. Taking time to recognize those moments helps us build stronger relationships, foster resilience, and create a greater sense of purpose in both our personal and professional lives.

Scientific research continues to demonstrate the powerful impact gratitude can have on our overall well-being. Studies have shown that practicing gratitude can activate areas of the brain associated with reward, emotional regulation, and social connection. Regular gratitude practices have also been linked to improved mood, increased resilience, stronger relationships, reduced stress, and greater overall life satisfaction.

By dedicating an entire month to gratitude, we create intentional opportunities to slow down, reflect, and appreciate the people and experiences that make a difference in our lives. It is a simple practice, but one that has the power to positively influence how we think, feel, and connect with others.

A Journey Through your Past, Present, and Future of Gratitude

This year’s theme invites participants to explore gratitude through three important perspectives, your Past, Present, and Future. Throughout June, we will be taking a guided journey with weekly challenges designed to encourage reflection, meaningful conversations, and personal growth. Each week focuses on a different stage of the gratitude journey, helping participants recognize how gratitude has shaped their lives, how it impacts them today, and how it can guide them moving forward.

Week 1: Reflect and Rewind – Grateful for the Journey

We begin our Month of Gratitude journey by looking back.

Life moves quickly, and between work, family, and daily responsibilities, we don’t always take time to recognize how far we’ve come. This week encourages participants to reflect on the experiences, relationships, challenges, and accomplishments that have shaped their lives. By revisiting meaningful memories and recognizing personal growth, we can gain a greater appreciation for the journey that brought us to where we are today.

Often, the things we once hoped for have become part of our everyday reality. Taking time to reflect helps us reconnect with those moments, celebrate our resilience, and recognize the many reasons we have to be grateful.

Challenge Activities:

  • Journal about one part of your journey that you’re grateful for each day.
  • Look back through old photos and revisit meaningful memories.
  • Reach out to someone who has supported you and express your appreciation.
  • Write a letter to yourself reflecting on your growth, strength, and resilience.

Week 2: Reframe Your Present Perspective

After reflecting on the past, we turn our attention to the present.

This week focuses on the way we view our lives and the perspectives we bring to everyday experiences. While we cannot control every circumstance we encounter, we can often choose how we respond to it. Gratitude can help us shift our focus from what is lacking to what is already present, allowing us to see ordinary moments with greater appreciation.

Practicing gratitude does not mean ignoring challenges or pretending everything is perfect. Instead, it encourages us to recognize the good that exists alongside life’s difficulties. Small shifts in perspective can help us become more aware of the blessings, opportunities, and relationships that we may otherwise overlook.

Challenge Activities:

  • Identify an automatic thought each day and reframe it through a lens of gratitude.
  • Have a conversation with a coworker about something you’ve recently realized you’re grateful for.
  • Pause and intentionally reframe challenges when they arise throughout the week.
  • Create a visual reminder of gratitude by printing and displaying photos of meaningful people, moments, and experiences.

Week 3: Gratitude Everyday, Everywhere

Our third week shifts our focus to the present moment and the many opportunities for gratitude that exist in our daily lives.

Gratitude does not have to be reserved for major milestones or special occasions. This week encourages participants to intentionally incorporate gratitude into their everyday routines, helping it become a natural part of how they think, respond, and move through life. By recognizing moments of appreciation throughout the day, we can cultivate a mindset that helps us stay present, positive, and connected.

Challenge Activities:

  • Practice gratitude during daily routines through habit stacking.
  • Express appreciation to someone who positively impacts your life.
  • Keep a running list of grateful moments on your phone.
  • Use visual reminders, such as a meaningful photo or quote, to encourage gratitude throughout the day.

Week 4: Gratitude Going Forward

As we conclude our Month of Gratitude journey, we look toward the future.

This week is about taking what we’ve learned throughout the month and creating sustainable gratitude practices that can continue long after June ends. By identifying the habits and reflections that resonated most, participants can build a personalized approach to gratitude that supports their well-being throughout the year.

Challenge Activities:

  • Create a Gratitude Jar to collect moments of appreciation throughout the year.
  • Develop a personal Gratitude Plan for ongoing practice.
  • Create a vision board that combines future goals with accomplishments already achieved.
  • Plant a seed or purchase a plant as a reminder of growth, gratitude, and future possibilities.

Ending on a High Note: Spirit Week

During the final week of our Month of Gratitude, we add an extra layer of fun with our annual Spirit Dress-Up Week.

Employees across our service areas are encouraged to participate in themed dress-up days, share photos, and celebrate together. Spirit Week gives us an opportunity to connect, have fun, and end the month with even more positivity and appreciation.
