At Family Resource Home Care, we believe great care starts with great people—and Margaret, our Director of VA Services, is one of those people who radiates both passion and purpose. Her role is all about making sure veterans in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Colorado get connected to the VA home care services for veterans they need to live safely and comfortably at home.

This kicks off the first segment of a special video series featuring Margaret’s story, how her personal experiences shaped her career, why helping veterans matters so deeply to her, how she works every day to support the communities we serve, and relevant educational information regarding home care that VA covers.

How Margaret Supports Veterans Across Four States

Margaret wears many hats in her role. She’s a vital link between our local branch teams and the VA’s social workers, care coordinators, and nurses at VA medical centers. That means she spends part of her time working behind the scenes to coordinate care and part of her time out in the community, attending veteran stand downs, visiting local events, and making sure veterans and their families know about the VA home care services for veterans available to them.

Her work ensures no veteran falls through the cracks when it comes to getting the help they need.

A Personal Story That Shapes Her Passion

Margaret’s commitment to home care is rooted in her own life. Years ago, when her father was diagnosed with cancer, she and her siblings became his caregivers. That experience gave her a deep understanding of what home care and home health truly mean for families.

Her father’s military background made that time even more meaningful. He was a proud veteran of the Army Air Corps who later retired, and Margaret sees her work today as a way to honor him. Every veteran she helps through VA home care services for veterans feels like a tribute to her father’s service and sacrifice.

The Moment That Changed Everything

For Margaret, the turning point came when she fully understood the depth of her father’s service for our country. It sparked a lasting passion for helping others like him, veterans who have given so much and deserve care that reflects their dignity, sacrifice, and strength. Today, that passion fuels every conversation she has with a VA care coordinator, every stand down she attends, and every veteran she meets.
