A Journey Fueled by Purpose and Growth
Branch Manager Monica didn’t begin her career at Family Resource Home Care seeking a leadership title—she came looking for a connection. After spending years in the clinical side of healthcare, she yearned for a more human-centered approach to care. “There’s a huge difference between managing health and truly impacting lives,” Monica says. That desire brought her to Family Resource Home Care’s Tacoma branch in June 2024, where she began as a Client Care Supervisor (CCS). Her eye for detail, passion for process improvement, and project management background made her a natural fit. But it was her “lived experiences” that gave her the heart and drive that truly set her apart.
Monica’s Professional Story
Monica’s dedication to care isn’t just professional—it’s deeply personal. Her father, a proud and stubborn veteran living in Florida, became the unexpected catalyst for her career shift. “He didn’t have anyone advocating for him. Doctors weren’t connecting the dots. I visited him and just knew something wasn’t right.” After helping coordinate home care for him, Monica witnessed firsthand the difference it made—until tragedy struck. He suffered a grand mal seizure, later linked to a brain bleed from a previous car accident, and passed away. Sometime later, the caregiver who cared for Monica’s father regifted Monica a mug her father had used every day that the caregiver had given him for a Christmas present that had a picture of his family on it. That small gesture cemented her mission: “I wanted to be closer to the people who make this kind of difference every day.”
The Road From Tacoma to Woodinville
What started as a CCS role quickly turned into a journey of growth and leadership. Monica embraced the interconnectedness of her position, learning not just about client care, but also business operations, billing, insurance, and technology platforms like AxisCare. “Being a Branch Manager means managing what you have while growing with intention,” she explains. Her work in Tacoma laid the foundation for her transition to the Branch Manager role in Woodinville. “What I love about Family Resource Home Care is how each role is designed to support and empower the others. And we promote from within—this role felt like a natural next step.” Now leading the Woodinville branch, Branch Manager Monica brings a servant leadership philosophy and deep empathy to the position. “From day one, I told my team I’d never ask them to do something I wouldn’t do myself.”
Building Trust Through Transparency & Service
Monica’s approach to leadership centers on authenticity and trust. She believes in watching the data, but listening to the people. “Data tells a story, but not the whole story. At the heart of this job, I’m caring for people—our admin team, our clients, and our caregivers.” Having worked closely with caregivers during her CCS days, she knows their role is the most demanding—and the most impactful. “Every caregiver who walks through our doors for orientation hears the same thing: you have the hardest job in the company. You’re making someone’s day possible. That’s a calling.”
Demystifying Home Care for Clients & Caregivers
Monica is also passionate about educating families and caregivers about the benefits and realities of home care. “Families often wait until they’re desperate. They don’t realize caregiver fatigue is real until it’s too late.” She helps clients understand that accepting help isn’t failure—it’s teamwork. “We’re here to be part of the solution, not more work for you.” For caregivers, she emphasizes the built-in support of Family Resource Home Care. “You’re never alone here. We’re a safety net—for clients and for our team.”
Exactly Where Monica Needs to Be
Reflecting on her journey from CCS in Tacoma to Branch Manager in Woodinville, Monica feels a deep sense of gratitude. “This company gave me a chance to grow into my strengths. I love being a resource, an advocate, and a connector. And I love my team—they’re experienced, compassionate, and the heart of this office.” Whether it’s through professional guidance or offering peace of mind to a family in crisis, Branch Manager Monica is right where she belongs: leading with empathy, grounded in purpose, and always striving to make a difference.
