Question: How is a Family Resource Caregiver Like a Mail Carrier?

Answer: A Family Resource caregiver is like a mail carrier because neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night, will stay either courier from their appointed rounds.

The Seattle winter storm of January 2012 brought home health care providers yet another challenge to remember.

The snow has melted, but the pride we have in our wonderful caregivers remains. Our appreciation of them is communicated in many ways. In addition, we also want you – our referral sources – to know what our caregivers do for their clients.

Savy V. was on the road for two hours before the start of her shift to make sure that she would get to her client on time during the snowstorm. Morgan S., in the height of the snowstorm, traveled throughout Seattle to provide home care services to his clients. His efforts during this storm earned him the nickname, “Mr. Reliable.” Chim L. walked to the home of one of her clients because she was not able to get to her by car. Alisha M. not only made it to her own client’s home during the snowstorm but also willingly worked fill-in shifts for other clients whose caregivers were unable to get to them through the snow and ice. Lucy G. did not let the snow and ice keep her from saying “yes” when we asked whether she would be willing to work two fill-in shifts during the snowstorm. And Marie C. worked back-to-back shifts with her client, whose home was without power for a full 24 hours during the harsh weather.

These are just a few of the caregivers who made tremendous efforts to provide home health care to their clients or worked with FRHC and their clients to reschedule for another day as the weather began to let up. The hard work and dedication of our caregivers during this time allowed Family Resource to keep its commitments to our clients, their families, and to you.
