A Journey of Compassion and Adaptability
Lily Pan’s story is one of resilience, compassion, and adaptability. Over a year ago, Lily found herself taking on the role of a family caregiver for her grandmother and her grandmother’s sister. This unexpected shift in her life came about after she was laid off from her previous job and her cousin fell ill, leaving her family in need of care. Living with her grandmother and sister in Renton, Washington, Lily provides around-the-clock care, a responsibility she took on out of love and commitment to her family.
While navigating the challenges of caregiving, Lily began searching for remote job opportunities that would allow her the flexibility to continue providing care to her family. Her search led her to Family Resource Home Care (FRHC) where she found the Talent Acquisition Coordinator (TAC) position. With her background in staffing and onboarding, Lily saw this role as an opportunity for job security and a chance to leverage her skills in a new way.
“It’s really nice, I wanted something to work from home because of the flexibility to take care of them and I feel very fortunate to get this position. I’m happy,” Lily shared, highlighting her gratitude for the flexibility FRHC offers her to balance her caregiving responsibilities with her professional role.
Bridging Two Worlds: Caregiving and Talent Acquisition
Lily’s experience as a caregiver has equipped her with unique insights that she believes will be invaluable in her role as a TAC.
“I had to take HCA courses to become a caregiver for my grandma and her sister, and I feel like I understand that portion and the certificates and licensing portion to be able to navigate and manage expectations for onboarding caregivers,” Lily explained. This hands-on experience allows her to provide guidance and support to caregivers under her supervision, ensuring they deliver exceptional service to clients.
Moreover, Lily’s caregiving experience has enabled her to answer caregiver questions regarding the technical aspects of obtaining their certificates, further enhancing her ability to support and guide her team effectively.
Embracing the Lighter Side of Caregiving
When asked about her advice for caregivers, Lily emphasized the importance of companionship and understanding the lighter side of caregiving. “Taking care of the elderly can be fun because they are lonely, and companionship can provide the need that their family can’t provide,” she said.
Lily views caregiving as an opportunity to be a friend and a support system for clients, beyond just the technical and medical aspects. “Sometimes they just need someone to talk to or do things with because they don’t have anyone else,” she added. By focusing on the companionship aspect of caregiving, Lily encourages caregivers to find joy and fulfillment in their roles, making the experience more enjoyable for both the caregiver and the client.

Lily Pan’s journey is a testament to her resilience, compassion, and commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. Balancing the demands of family caregiving with a remote career as a Talent Acquisition Coordinator is no small feat, but Lily manages to do so with grace and positivity.
“I was able to meet my manager and Bailee, and it was a good time to see our flesh, face-to-face at the summit,” Lily shared, reflecting on her positive in-person team building event with her Family Resource Home Care team. Her ability to find joy in her work and in providing care for her family is a true inspiration, reminding us all of the power of compassion, adaptability, and human connection.
