Washington State Begins Paid Family and Medical Leave in 2020Washington State is implementing paid family and medical leave starting in 2020. This plan allows individuals to provide care following the birth of a child, a child being placed with a family, or for individuals or their family members facing a serious health condition. Qualifying families can be eligible for 12 weeks of paid leave, up to 16 weeks in extreme cases, earning between $100 and $1000 a week depending on salary. While four other states, California, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and New York, have paid family leave, Washington State’s is among the most generous in the nation.

Family Resource Home Care is ecstatic about this policy, and the implications it has for family planning, broader social issues, and most importantly the focus on care and health. We are proud that our home state is taking the lead in this revolutionary benefit. We see this as an exciting recognition of the state acknowledging the value of being taken care of, as we are always advocates of anything that allows employees and loved ones to have access to stability and care.

As always, if there are ever times when you need assistance, Family Resource Home Care is here to help. We are your resource.
