A Caring Companion - Creating a Trusting and Familiar Relationship
Roz Seeman and her caregiver Christine crack jokes while the aroma of chicken cooking fills her condo. In her late eighties, Roz hasn’t the stamina to work at the stove, nor can she attend church, play bridge with friends, or travel around the world as she once did. Yet even after a broken ankle convinced her son Karl that “she needed someone beside her,” strong-willed Roz insisted on staying in her own home.
On a recommendation from their doctor’s office, Karl invited Sheila McKannay, Family Resource Home Care's Vice President of Client Care, to visit for consultation and assessment. “I was most impressed that she was looking to find out what my mother wanted. They’ve gone out of their way to find just the right match for my mother.”
Christine, her caregiver, cleans, does errands, and helps Roz to move about, but, Karl happily reports, “Christine’s really a companion, and mother loves her.”
