A Needed Respite - Giving Family Members the Time to Refresh and Renew
Just after World War II, Hibbard Moore and his new bride built the only house they have ever lived in. Hibbard was from Spokane, but “Virginia grew up in the neighborhood and we decided to stay close to home.” Hibbard’s sales career prospered, “putting washing machines in every Seattle hospital,” and he and Virginia led a healthy, active life.
After fifty years together, Virginia developed symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease. As Hibbard watched helplessly, Virginia’s disease progressed. For many years he cared for his ailing wife, but at age 86 decided it was time for some help.
With help from Abby, their caregiver from Family Resource Home Care, Hibbard now has more energy to do things he enjoys, such as tinkering in the back yard and visiting high school friends in Spokane. “Abby has been fantastic,” he says with a ready smile. “She helps Virginia to look and feel her best.”
