What I Do
My job is making sure Family Resource is the best home care agency it can be. I set the vision and goals for the company, hire smart, dedicated people, and turn them loose. The management team and I meet daily to help make the operations run as smoothly as possible. Ultimately, we all want our clients to experience highly skilled and reliable care delivered with commitment and kindness.
My proudest accomplishment is helping thousands of older adults live safely and comfortably at home. I’m also proud of providing a great place to work for every employee. And most of all, I work hard to actually be a committed and kind person.
Founded in 1996, Family Resource Home Care is one of the oldest and most established private duty home care agencies in Washington State. This allows me to provide leadership for other home care agencies as a founding board member of the Washington Private Duty Association.
Why Home Care
Before starting Family Resource Home Care, I spent 20 years as an elementary school teacher and principal. I enjoy understanding the needs of families and helping people.
In addition to running Family Resource Home Care, I am a member of the National Association of Geriatric Care Managers and was the eighth Washington State member. I am also on the Advisory Board of the University of Washington’s Institute on Aging and have taught in their Certificate Program in Gerontology. I have an 88-year-old father who worked until age 87, and 14 months later is still a source of inspiration and jokes. I also cared for my mother from the time she became ill until her death at age 80. At home, my wife and I are raising two wonderful children. Since I believe so much in the mission of Family Resource Home Care, I try to teach my kids the value of respecting, honoring, and caring for elders. Hopefully, some small part is sinking in.
