What I Do
My main job is to process caregiver’s time cards and make sure that every caregiver is paid the right amount for the shifts they work. I also help with lots of other tasks such as insurance billing, client notes, and petty cash.
When a time card doesn’t match up with what a caregiver should have worked or if a caregiver has a problem using our time and attendance system correctly, I have to call them and find out why. When I call, I treat people exactly how I would like to be treated. When caregivers come into the office to get petty cash or receipts, if the account doesn’t balance exactly, I try to be patient and respectful.
We always will take the time to explain all the details about statements and paychecks to people. Other places I’ve worked, they just don’t really care that much. Here, we check each other’s work and go over everything more than once. We want everything that we send out to be absolutely correct. These bills go to children of our clients who are being cared for and they have enough on their plate. When we send a client a statement or issue a paycheck to a caregiver, want them to have trust that it’s correct. Why Home Care
One time a caregiver went grocery shopping for a client and she accidently locked the keys in her car. She was in the middle of a shift and couldn’t get back to the clients house. She was kind of freaking out. She was upset and had a hard time seeing the situation wasn’t totally horrible. I was able to calm her down. At the end of the call she knew everything would be OK and she wasn’t going to get in trouble.
One day I want to go back to school and become an astronomer. I’ve always been interested in space and how the universe was formed. The universe is so huge and vast - how did all this amazing stuff happen?
